Beyond Ceuta: Migration Dynamics, Structural Drivers and Longer-Term Responses across Spain, Europe and Africa

14 September 2026 · 15:30–17:00 CEST · Online · In English

Recent events in Ceuta have once again placed the border between Africa and Europe at the heart of public debate, raising questions that cannot be answered through emergency responses alone. Which economic, social, demographic and political factors are reshaping mobility? What do these episodes reveal about the responses of Spain and the European Union, and how are they understood from Africa and, in particular, Morocco? This webinar will bring African and European perspectives into dialogue to offer a rigorous, accessible reading beyond the headlines. We will examine what happened, its implications for migration governance, and approaches that combine anticipation, cooperation, opportunity and legal pathways. The event is for practitioners, policymakers, researchers, journalists and anyone who wants to understand these dynamics more clearly and join a genuinely shared conversation about sustainable, longer-term responses.
