Workshop Overview

Taking advantage of the presence of several members of its network of associated researchers in Madrid, the Spanish Institute for Migration Analysis (IEAM) organised a working meeting with four of its African Fellows: Ehameye Ag Mohamedoun, Roméo Gbaguidi, Dr Bréma Ely Dicko and Relwendé Louis Martial Zongo, together with Executive Director Beatriz de León Cobo, Project Manager Camille Dock and Research Assistant Nicolás Manzano Cruz.

The meeting provided an opportunity to strengthen ties between the Fellows and the Institute’s team, exchange views on IEAM’s strategic development and research priorities, and identify new avenues for collaboration. Among the main outcomes were the organisation of a webinar on the EU Pact on Migration and Asylum ahead of the co-authoring of a Policy Brief from an African perspective, the launch of a bimonthly webinar series, with each session led by a different Fellow, the introduction of quarterly follow-up meetings, and several communication initiatives aimed at increasing the visibility of this collaboration, including short introductory videos for each Fellow and joint content to be shared across social media platforms.

The meeting marked an important step in strengthening the Fellows’ network, encouraging exchanges among its members, and laying the foundations for a more structured model of collaboration focused on research, knowledge production, expertise sharing and IEAM’s international outreach.

This network reflects IEAM’s commitment to developing its research and policy analysis alongside researchers with first-hand knowledge of the political, social and migration dynamics of their respective countries and regions.
