Working meeting overview
IEAM brought together four of its African Fellows—Ehameye Ag Mohamedoun, Roméo Gbaguidi, Bréma Ely Dicko and Relwendé Louis Martial Zongo—in Madrid, alongside Beatriz de León Cobo, Camille Dock and Nicolás Manzano Cruz, members of the Institute’s team. The meeting was conceived as a working session to define research priorities, strengthen internal collaboration and prepare new joint initiatives.
The meeting strengthened ties between the Fellows and the Institute’s team, enabled an exchange of views on IEAM’s strategic development and research priorities, and identified new avenues for collaboration. Key outcomes included organising a webinar on the European Pact on Migration and Asylum as a first step towards jointly producing a policy brief from an African perspective; launching a bimonthly webinar series led in turn by a different Fellow; establishing quarterly follow-up meetings; and developing communication initiatives to increase the visibility of this collaboration, including short presentation videos featuring each Fellow and joint content for social media.
The meeting marked an important step in consolidating the Fellows network, encouraging exchanges among its members and laying the foundations for a more structured model of collaboration focused on research, knowledge production, experience-sharing and IEAM’s international outreach.
This network reflects IEAM’s commitment to conducting research and public-policy analysis alongside researchers with direct knowledge of the political, social and migration dynamics of their countries and regions.
